Cholera Outbreak
So far 1297 cases of cholera have been reported in the region since the outbreak was confirmed in Hawassa city on 27 April 2023 with a total death of 12 (CFR=0.93). No new cases have been reported in more than two months from any woreda. All CTCs/CTUs have been closed. Preventions activities are still ongoing.
Measles outbreak
As of 11 Feb. 2024, 1366 cases of measles have been reported since the outbreak has been declared in the region at the beginning of May 2023. The outbreak has affected 28 woredas/towns so far. The number of cases has increased by 203 (17%) in the week. A total of 15 related deaths with CFR of 1.1 have been reported including the 2 reported in this week. The outbreak is rapidly spreading throughout the region especially in recent weeks. Mop-up vaccinations have been conducted in the outbreak woredas and RCCE activities have been enhanced.
